Bonue freebie: Jamie Lidell

Jamie Lidell, a funky white cat from England, is headlining a free concert tomorrow in New York City.

Also on the bill for Central Park SummerStage: Janelle Monáe, Little Jackie, Jose James and DJ Gilles Peterson.

(I need to dig deeper into Ms. Monáe, based on what I’ve seen on YouTube.)

I’ve got a FREE MP3 for you from Jamie Lidell, if you’re interested. Click here to hear “Figured Me Out (LA Garage Mix).” Follow this link to Spinner.com to download it.

The original mix of “Figured Me Out” is on Lidell’s 2008 album “Jim.”

You always seem to have the scoop on what's going on with new artists in the Big Apple. I'm impressed. :-)

I'm clueless. :-/

And now I'm trying to extend my NYC trip to see Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings on the 17th in Central Park for free.

I was already stretchin' out budget and time wise, staying until the 15th for Booker T & The MG's.

I'm trying not to look for more to do,as I know therer is something cool 365 days of the year in the city I love.

I was supposed to be down this week, meet the Stylisics and check out DJ Spinna, but got pushed back, due to other biz.

Anyone on here from NYC that wants to get together(must love Funk),get in contact with me.
Should be down from the 11th-15th if not longer.

Put in your LP requests now as my one crate is almost full with requests from the rest of my friends.

What doesn't go on the first wave, will end up at A-1,so I can afford to eat more than a McMuffin, while I'm down.

Janelle Monáe has a fantastic voice and is not hard on the eyes either. Love those glasses. Is there a message with those shades?

^ You're right, Vince, that's one good-looking woman. I think she's into a future-funk kinda look... like Labelle. And I hope that represents a genuine eccentric streak... not just a self-marketing angle.

The first time I heard Jamie Lidell's "Multiply" I thought he was an older black man.

I saw Janelle Monae in concert - she is so cute and spunky and fun.

^ I'm about ready to put on robes and follow that chick. Janelle Monae needs to become majorly successful.
