Born in Ivory Coast, Alpha Blondy is one of the most popular reggae artists in the world. His latest album, “Jah Victory,” was released last year.(Blondy was due to headline at San Diego’s renowned reggae festival in February – replacing South Africa’s Lucky Dube, who was murdered last year. But he had to cancel because of illness.)
My favorite Alpha Blondy song is “Jerusalem,” from his 1986 album of the same name.
That album was recorded in Jamaica, with the Wailers as his backing band. (Click here to hear the track on my Vox blog.)
