Siskel & Ebert on ‘B*A*P*S’

Gene and Roger, being good liberals, tended to over-praise black filmmakers and black performers. (At least that’s the feeling I always got.)

A dozen years ago, they drew the line at “B*A*P*S” (written by Troy Beyer, directed by Robert Townsend, starring Halle Berry). It was more than they could bear.

Ebert's wife is Black, that might have something to do with it too. If there's anything to do with large breasts, it's Ebert also since he co-wrote a Russ Myer film.

I agree with Anonymous. I swear that once Ebert was with Chaz he started giving overly positive praise to some black movies. It's kind of ironic that I took exception to his glowing reviews of so-so black movies.

I used to love to hate them & their movie reviews. Whatever they hated, I loved & vice versa.

B.A.P.S is perhaps one of the worst movies ever made but I like it & it was one of the 1st movies my wife & I saw together when we 1st boo'd up.
