Tuesday 12-inch Flashback: ‘Walking Into Sunshine’

You old folks might remember this cut from 1981. I never knew that Central Line was a British band. (And yet this single wasn’t a hit in the U.K.)

I remember this. (But "Walking On Sunshine immediately came to mind.) I remember that the group was from England too. Forgot all about them.

Man, it's pretty depressing when a cut from 1981 is prefaced with "you old folks might remember..."

LL sampled this joint as well.
My memory tells me there was a Larry Levan mix of this also.

Yep, dude. Back then, even the one-off hits were solid. It used to be a joy to listen to the radio.

I'm born in 1984, but I LOVE the "old school" lol I listen to The Groove (60s, 70s, and 80s r&b) on XM Radio, so they play this song ALOT!

I was wondering if one day can you do an article on Archie Bell & The Drells?! :D They're from my hometown (Houston)

thanks and LOVE your blog!

^ Thanks for that, houstongirl!

I'll have to figure up a reason to stream "Soul City Walking."

On yes, I remember this... This was THEE jam! I just found a nice copy of this LP like a month ago, too...

Between Central Line, Junior and Imagination, Black Britain was really putting it out there in the early 80s!

^ You're definitely right about Junior and Imagination.

Speaking of "Imagination," I added "Burnin' Up" to my playlist a couple of months ago. Don't know how I could've left it off. :-/

My favorite Black Brit act from the 80s was "Loose Ends." :worship:
