Colin Powell endorses Obama

And he did so in the strongest possible terms.

This endorsement will dominate the public discussion of the campaign for at least the next 24 hours, robbing John McCain of yet another day in which to try and shift the momentum.

Two weeks, people. Two weeks to go.

i loved everything he said.

and all the racists who will say he only did it because obama is black won't find a single word to prove their point.

powell hates bush. he hates chaney and rumsfeld even more. remember that he quit in 2005 in disgust.

this is not a man who would have been expected to support the republican establishment. i could tell in the black list that was supporting obama.

he gave SO many reasons...not the least of which is sarah palin. is she ready to prez?

i have said since day one sarah palin was the best thing that ever happened to obama.

I realize it was necessary to explain his choice but, wow....that was a LONG answer.

here's what i also noticed: he never said a WORD about foreign affairs, about how he disagrees with the strategy on iraq, iran, afganistan...etc.

never mentioned it in reference to either man.

Of course they called his choice "racial".

As if George Will and Rush Limbaugh would support Sarah Palin if she were black.

I just got back from campaigning in red state battleground Pennsylvania with my cousin, doing door-to-door canvassing for Obama. And you'd be surprised just how many Republicans we came upon, living in a divided home with Democrats and Undecideds/Independents,who said they were switching sides during this election.

And I'm delighted to report that more than a few cited Palin as the reason why.

As one GOPer put it: "This year ya'll have a better team." Hmmmm. I guess so.

I also sensed somewhat of a resignation in some Republicans and Democrats who said it's a done deal because "Obama has it." But as instructed in our briefing, we told them that we can't assume that. And that every vote counts regardless of the polls and all of the other encouraging events happening for the Obama/Biden team. Careful not to appear cocky or overly confident, we reminded them that it's not a done deal until Election Day results are in and confirmed.

I think it's safe to say that we also must be cautious about "The Bradley Effect." So, let's keep our eyes on the prize and keep after our friends and relatives, as well as our associates and even strangers that they must show up in some form or fashion on Election Day -- through absentee ballots or in person and VOTE !!

Good will and support simply won't do it alone. We have to actually put this in motion.

So do your part and get out the vote, people !!!

Obama '08 !!

Obama '08 !!

Obama '08 !!

I think you'd be interested in "Rebirth of a Nation" when it is released on Election Day. It was produced by Paul Miller (aka "DJ Spooky") and I feel that it draws some really interesting parallels between racism in the Wilson's White House, and racism in the administration now.

Check it:http://www.amazon.com/Spookys-Rebirth-Nation-David-Harrington/dp/B001DHXSYE/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1224519280&sr=8-1
