I remember "Native New Yorker" as a child. My aunt loved that song. When she went away to college, she said it made her homesick.

Heck, yeah! Back then, I thought they were Egyptian, they looked so "exotic" to me.

I have their greatest hits comp because I had to have "Inside Out." I love that joint! (The intro sounds just like Slave's "Watching You.")

"Goin' Back to My Roots" was my favorite of theirs.

"Inside Out" is my cell phone ring this summer...the bass is the sickest.

And before you even say anything, UBM, yes I was only 3 years old when it came out...

UBM, do you remember RuPaul's Back to My Roots? :P

^ Ummm... can't say's I do.

@bklyn6

I remember that song! Especially poignant considering THIS is one of the few songs about black hair and the man really is bald. You know even if UBM did know it he'd be forced to act like he didnt.

^ Mmmmmmm-hmm. Got that right, girlfriend.

^ You are funny UBM :-)

I love, love, love that song...it is so atmospheric, and alway makes me think of my East Coast roots.

My relatives in NY/Jersey played that song until the vinyl had a hole in it! lol

Was there any neck rollin' and finger snappin' involved in this response? :-)

Good call, thembi! I made the connection to the Odyssey song, but had almost forgotten RuPaul's hairstory.
