The late Gene Harris was a pianist who made swinging music for more than four decades.
He cut a live album in London in 1996... but “Live in London” wasn’t released until three months ago.
If you’re registered at the AllAboutJazz website (which is painless to do), you can download a FREE MP3 from “Live in London.”
Click here to hear Harris’s galloping version of Thelonious Monk’s “Blue Monk” on my Vox blog.

Love Gene Harris!
Familiar with Ode to Billie Joe (a jazz-soul staple) and have a couple of his albums with the Three Sounds....but woefully lacking his solo stuff.
And while I'm here, let me say your UMB-TV series ain't nothing but da TRUTH.
^ Thanks for that, Des.
I had the pleasure of meeting Gene when I worked for the label he was on, Concord Jazz, back in the mid-eighties. Not only was he a great pianist, but he was the warmest, sweetest man you could ever hope to meet.
Hey there!!
oooh oooh!
Thank you!
{thumbs up}
