MBP of the Week: New York Daily News

The New York Daily News yesterday ran an article with this headline: “Radio’s Troi (Star) Torain ready for his comeback on Pulse 87.”

Many New Yorkers are probably familiar with the controversial on-air history of the “Star & Buc Wild” show. Many New Yorkers, that is, except those who work at the Daily News.

See that photo above? See the caption? Ass backwards.

In reality, Buc Wild is the man on the left; Troi (Star) Torain is on the right. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how we play Misidentified Black People.

(Much thanks, Calvin.)

Dear Mr. Mills,

I'm a Kenyan-Canadian radio/print freelance journalist (CBC, *The Globe and Mail*, *Alberta Views*, *Unlimited*, *Vue Weekly*, CJSR), and also a novelist.

I'm working on a radio and print piece about *The Wire*. I've already interviewed directors Ernest Dickerson and Seith Mann, and I've got interviews confirmed with actors Andre Royo and Jamie Hector and director Anthony Hemingway.

I'm hoping I could interview you regarding your work on *The Wire*, *Homicide* and *NYPD Blues*.

Please let me know as soon as you can.

Best wishes,

Minister Faust

By the way, I meant to type *NYPD Blue*. I would've been displeased by my typo in any case, but after reading your carpet bombing of Julian Bond, I'm especially horrified.
