Brown is no longer Green.

Last March, I mentioned that former Black Panther chairman Elaine Brown was seeking the Green Party’s nomination for president.

I’m just finding out that Ms. Brown dropped out of the race six weeks ago... and she quit the Greens as well. According to her, this leftist party is run by a “clique” of racist and reactionary white men.

In a statement on her website, Elaine Brown wrote:

“I intended using my campaign to bring large numbers of blacks and browns into the Party, particularly from the hood and the barrio.... As I asserted I would use the respect I enjoyed as a former leader of the Black Panther Party to do so, some in the hierarchy seemed utterly fearful of the prospect of a massive influx of blacks and browns into the Green Party.”

There is more drama, which you can read about at her website, if you wish.

Meanwhile, ex-congresswoman Cynthia McKinney – a former Democrat – is running hard for the Green Party nomination. Her chief opponent is the undeclared candidate Ralph Nader.

JJ: I think Cynthia McKinney thinks that black folks think she's some kind of hero.

Daughter: Some people never did leave the '60s behind.

Hmmmmm.

Watching this sort of crazy nonsense happening to liberals is rather amusing.

And it helps the angst I'm feeling at having McCain as the GOP nominee.

a little.
