If you want to support striking writers...

... here’s a good idea (from Hollywood Interrupted). I say give the gift of music or books instead.

I saw someone with an "I support the WGA" bumpersticker today. And someone else had a strike poster in their yard. YAY! :-)

Sorry DVDs are my go-to gift for the difficult-to-shop-for people.

^ Okay then, Antonio... how about just music DVDs? No TV shows or movies?

I definitely support you guys. But, um, wellll...I kinda already asked for a few DVDs for Christmas and I think it's too late to retract. Sorry!

^ Cool. If we writers had it together, we would've come up with this boycott idea three weeks ago.

Strike aside, I love to gift CDs and books anyway... so I'll make some more recommendations regardless. ;^)

^ Aw, Dave, you're letting them off the hook too easily.

If you value the fight the writers strike symbolizes, you respect the line they drew in the sand. I'm not crossing it. And I think the writers should do a better job getting the public to back them. Because the writers strike is the same fight the auto and grocery store workers are fighting.

Imbalanced wealth distribution.

Cuz the writers occupy a similar place in the production of product, auto assembly and grocery workers occupy - albeit making more money.

Without them there is no product to sell or distribute.

Btw, listening to early 70s Miles Davis, his band was just as funky as Funkadelic, the JBs, the Meters, and Kool & the Gang. Killing!

I was a very good girl and didn't buy any DVDs for Christmas for me or anyone on my list.

That said if you know of any WGA writers with books out (old or new), let me know. I passed along a few copies of David Simon's Homicide book and The Corner (tho original book) to friends suggesting they read them. They have held up beautifully over the years.

I'll buy 'em the DVDs when the new MBA is made but not before.
