Let’s play Neo-Nazi or President?

Below are six quotations. In each case, the words were spoken or written by an American Neo-Nazi... or by a sitting or future U.S. president. Think you can tell which is which? Please, have at it.

Now don’t be Googling any phrases; that’s no fun. Make your guesses based on the quotations alone, then post them in the comments section. (If you happen to recognize any of these textbites, chillax for a while and let other people play the game.)

This is not a contest. No prizes will be awarded. It’s all just for grins. (And for whatever deeper lessons one might wish to construe.)

UPDATE (08/16/07): Cool. We might play this one again for real stakes in the future. Katya got them all correct:

1. Neo-Nazi (William Pierce)
2. President (Harry S Truman)
3. President (Richard Nixon)
4. Neo-Nazi (Kevin Alfred Strom)
5. President (Woodrow Wilson)
6. Neo-Nazi (George Lincoln Rockwell)
1. “[Jews] do a better job of cooperating with each other and looking out for their common interests than any other ethnic group in the world.”

2. “The Jews, I find, are very, very selfish. They care not how many Estonians, Latvians, Finns, Poles, Yugoslavs or Greeks get murdered or mistreated … as long as the Jews get special treatment.”

3. “The Mexicans... they steal, they’re dishonest, but they do have some concept of family life. They don’t live like a bunch of dogs, which the Negroes do live like.”

4. “Many states had statutes – and Thomas Jefferson himself was the author of some – that provided severe penalties for racial mixing, which was officially forbidden by law. The founding fathers couldn’t have made it much clearer than that...”

5. “The white men were roused by a mere instinct of self-preservation… until at last there had sprung into existence a great Ku Klux Klan, a veritable empire of the South, to protect the Southern Country.”

6. “When you take a look at how the average, bourgeois white man spends his time... hunched over a desk, going to the ballet, riding around on his electric lawn mower or squatting on his fur-lined toilet seat you can't help but observe how soft and squishy a lot of white men allow themselves to become...”

These are hard!

The only one that triggers even a flicker of memory is number 5...and the flickering memory says this was the statement of Woodrow Wilson upon watching a screening of Birth Of A Nation (in the White House, no less) or this is a quote from B.O.A.N. itself...(?)

I'm pretty sure the first one is Biden and I hope to God that the rest of the quotes are from Neo-Nazis, even though I'm sure they're not.

You funny, cjb!

1 & 5 are Presidents.
2,3,4 & 6 are Neo-nazis.
Pretty much based on grammar and vocabulary words. What president, other than the current resident of the white house, would use the word squishy? It's just not presidential.

UBM and friends....

I know this is off topic...but I was curious. What is the perception about Hindus in the US? Are they perceived as race conscious or otherwise?

Btw...love your blog!

Where did you find your quotes? I would love to see your sources so I can play this game with my students.
