This week the new ballot of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees was announced: Kiss, Red Hot Chili Peppers, ABBA, Genesis, LL Cool J, Donna Summer, Laura Nyro, Darlene Love, the Stooges, the Hollies, the Chantels and Jimmy Cliff.
Five of them will be inducted into the Hall of Fame next year. New Jerseyites are saying: “Where’s Bon Jovi?” I’m saying: “Where’s Los Lobos?”
Are Los Lobos not a Hall-of-Fame band? Shoooot... even their side projects are smokin’. Click these links to stream selected tracks on my Vox blog:
1. “Cuca’s Blues” – Latin Playboys
2. “Howling Moon” – Los Cenzontles & David Hidalgo
3. “Tough to Handle” – Cesar Rosas
4. “Teresa” – Los Super Seven
5. “All Around the World or The Myth of Fingerprints (Early Version)” – Paul Simon

I couldn't agree more. Los Lobos is the most talented band to come out of L.A. ever IMHO. It would be hard to imagine the current LA sound if this band had never existed.

I am seriously loving Cuca's Blues
Bay Radical: Wow! I never knew. That's hilarious.
WFMU rocks.
I am seriously loving Cuca's Blues
I used that in Ep. 2 of "Kingpin," SJ. But I think the mix came out bad. This track, you'll notice, is drastically divided into the left and right channels. I think only one half of it made it into the show. I was bummed.
It's a crime that they weren't nominated. Pinche HOF gueros.
