Tuesday 12-inch Flashback: ‘Movin’ ’

In April of 1976, this tune was making its way to No. 1 on the Billboard R&B chart. Seems like yesterday.

Brass Construction had gone in the studio and jammed this groove for 16 solid minutes... until the tape ran out. Then they edited it down and called it “Movin’.”

Brass Construction never got close to No. 1 again.

LOVE Brass Construction!

"Get ourselves together!"
"wanna get higher!"

I'm only 25 and feel 57 listening to to this music but I LOVE IT!

Tight Jam. Old School 70s style soul played by a zoned in group of human beings.

Take out the shouts and you can't tell one BC song from another..... they never moved me. However, maybe I give them a new listen with my mature ears...lawd knows I've got most of their albums.

^ My favorite cut of theirs is "L-O-V-E-U." They really gave the guitar player(s) some.
