Vibraphonist Roy Ayers produced some tasty funk in the 1970s, after starting out in a straight-ahead jazz vein in the ’60s (alongside Hampton Hawes and Herbie Mann).Ayers is held in high esteem by hip-hoppers and acid-jazz freaks, as illustrated by a 2006 CD called “Virgin Ubiquity: Remixed.”

I dont know if you read his blog, but Byg Babys Mindspill interviewed Ayers at a concert this past weekend. Its a good read, check it out.
