Nelson George, world traveler

Author and filmmaker Nelson George has an interesting online project cooking. He’ll be the editor of a new black travel site... and he’s on his way to Rome, Milan, Barcelona and Madrid to gather material.

An official announcement will come in mid-October.

You might recall I blogged about Nelson’s cool little “London diary” in February.

UBM how can I be involved? Im a world traveler and a neophyte writer. Me and my potna' even developed a pitch for a hip hop travel show. I just got back from a 2 month trip thru guatemala. Judging from your Bill Cobb guess you prolly know my humble resume'. How can I be down Bruh?

Not to mention the islands Peru and Europe... Man we have great hideouts in the castles of St. Juliet, France. The best of Ibitha, Ive certainly never been one to ask for anything but I can't imagine anyone as Ill as myself that's experienced the world as I have. I can certainly be of service in some capacity.

^ Are you on Facebook, Ill? That's probably the best way to connect with him.

Also, you can reach out via the contact page on Nelson's website.

I'm excited to see this. Years ago I'd noodled on the idea of a Black Diaspora Travel magazine, but now a site would be so much better. Thanks for the tip.

Nelson is a beast. What can I say? I've been looking up to him since I read The Death Of Rhythm and Blues at the age of 13. BTW...his autobiography is a great read!

Yeah, this Black traveller thing sounds like a dope idea. I love Globe Trekker, but I always see Megan McCormick. It's almost as if they're trying to convey the message that Black people don't travel.

I wonder if he's partnering with Avocet Travel on this in any way...
