But the musical and conceptual simplicity of Rick James (compared to both P.Funk and Prince) make him more appealing to many.

I will go so far and say the heresy that STREET SONGS was overrated.
^ I never, ever felt him as an album artist. I've probably never listened to anything but the singles... even though I may own an LP or two.
