Santigold on Jimmy Fallon tonight

I didn’t watch the premiere of “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” last night. (Anybody see it and care to report?) To be honest, I could barely tolerate Fallon on “Saturday Night Live.”

But he must have a hip music booker, because tonight’s scheduled performer is Santogold, who has changed that spelling to “Santigold,” and about whom I’ve blogged (here and here).

I might stay up for that.

Meantime, here’s a glimpse of Santigold at an Apple Store in Manhattan (week before last):

I sure hope the show will end up being a great place for music. Having The Roots as your house band is a great start. A couple of very talented friends write for the show, too.

In general I find Fallon obnoxious and completely unfunny - but I have to agree that landing the Roots as your house band is great. Very surprising for someone who has basically made a career out of fucking up sketches.

I saw a bit he did on the web as a promo for the show with the woman from The Guild though - it poorly edited, and he was still unfunny, but slightly less unfunny than normal.

Yeah, Fallon's in over his head.

I'd like to see Santigold on a double bill with this girl.

Was I hallucinating or did you have a post up late last night that has since disappeared?

As for Fallon, yeah, he sucks. I've hated him for so long that there's just no way I'm even going to give him a chance. I'll never watch his show no matter who he has on. I'll stick with the crazy Scotsman.

I never did understand why she was Sant"o"gold and not Sant"i"gold. But I've gotten so used to the "o" that the "i" now seems a little strange to me.

I bought her CD when you featured her a while back. It's been on my mp3 player ever since.

I see what you mean odocoileus.

I can relates.

She was kinda meh on Jimmy Fallon last night. Maybe the Santigold vibe is best suited to artsy-fartsy videos.

^I liked her dancers, with their old school hip-hop moves; but, her performance needed more energy.

^ Energy... yep. That's it. I like her dancers too.
