Siskel & Ebert on ‘The Truman Show’

The sad thing about this one is, Gene Siskel offered his comments via telephone... from his hospital bed. That was in June of 1998. Within months, Gene would be dead from brain cancer.

Looking back, I’d have to say that Siskel (as well as Ebert) overpraised this picture.

Read Philip K. Dick's novel "Time Out of Joint," written in the '50s, and note the similarities between it and "The Truman Show."

I was disappointed with "The Truman Show" even when it was still making it's rounds in the theatres. And you're right UBM, time has not been kind to this picture.
