Is this the "perfect girlfriend" that the Japanese man (who still lives at home with his parents) designed?

Did I see that here?

^ How could this be the "perfect girlfriend"? She talks.

But seriously:

"Kokoro a division of Sanrio which specializes in robotics has unveiled the Actroid DER2 fembot a successor to the Actroid DER. The Actroid DER2 is a bit thinner and can deliver more expressions, in fact she is so lifelike that you might mistake her for an actual human being.

"Its limbs, torso and facial expressions are controlled by a system of actuators powered by pneumatic pressure. She can even choreograph her motions and gestures with her voice.

"Though not for sale you can rent out the Actroid DER2 fembot for around 400,000 yen (US$3,500) for 5 days."

even in robotics...being thinner improves the appeal? hrumph!

i would like a robot that places the toilet lid down, asks for directions when lost, puts dirty laundry in the basket, and knows how to lead on the dance floor...

yes, my holidays have been filled with masculine energy. :)

Ah yes, but for all we know she may be saying, "You are right!", "You are so handsome and smart!", "Can I bring you a Kirin?"

Heh. Yeah, quirkychick... there's a reason all these anthropomorphic Japanese robots look like women, not men.

Apropos of nothing in particular, have you ever checked out the animated series Samurai Jack? I figured you would enjoy it, especially Season 4, which features (among other things) a space opera, a giant robot, and a film noir episode.

this somehow reminds me of the Henson movie, The Dark Crystal. I miss Jim Henson.
