A free Alice Russell download

Will Alice Russell be the next Amy Winehouse? (I mean musically, not pharmacologically.)

Ms. Russell is a young British soul singer. Her first U.S. album release, “Pot of Gold,” is in stores this week. And I’ve got a FREE MP3 for you.

Click here to hear “Got the Hunger?” on my Vox blog. To download it, click the song title below.

If your interest is piqued, follow this link and you can stream NPR’s recent profile of Alice Russell.

Alice is the real thing. Fabchannel is preparing a concert of hers that they streamed recently.

^ Cool. I'll keep an eye out for that, Craig.

Based on your post and some stuff I heard on KCRW earlier in the year I'd say she's about 1,000 times better than Amy Winehouse. That one song was cute but her whole deal felt like a gimmick follwed by a disaster. BTW UBM, props to you for putting Joan Osborne on UBM TV, she claimed SARA SMILE for her own on that one.

^ Thanks, Russ. Here's the link, for those who missed the Joan Osborne clip.

She sounds good. You know what is sad though? Amy Winehouse was great. I listen to Frank all the time. She just had it. It's a shame she is FUBAR.

I loooove Alice's music. Peace Resides off of her 2004 CD Under the Munka Moon is a great song. I didn't know she was white until this year! lol

And I am a stan for Joan Osborne!

^ "Stan"... I learned a new slang word. Thanks.

I've been all over her since before I ever heard of any Am Winehouse. Love 'er! Thanks for the free track!

Help a white boy out, "stan"?

UBM, she is worth digging in the crates a bit for - aside from her own albums, search Quantic Soul Orchestra, she sings lead vocals on a number of their songs.

Another goodie, UBM!

Now I have all three of her albums. I was underwhelmed with Estelle, Adele and Duffy, and another whose name escapes me. I even got bored with Joss Stone. I love Amy's stuff, but I cringe when I hear her for obvious reasons. I'm lovin' Alice, though.
