Something familiar from Katt Williams

Katt Williams has a new DVD dropping on Tuesday: “It’s Pimpin’ Pimpin’.”

I enjoy Katt’s comedy. He brings a lot to the stage in terms of vocal stylistics and physical energy. Some human insight too.

But judging by the promotional video embedded below – which uses audio from “Pimpin’ Pimpin’ ” – it doesn’t seem like Katt Williams is breaking any new ground here.

Matter fact, this “Gangsta Tigers” routine is a variation on Chris Rock’s “Siegfried and Roy” bit from a few years ago.

Funny animation, though. WARNING: Foul language and N-words aplenty.

Yep, that's a funny animation. Kind of funny commentary, though I agree Chris' bit is better.

Yes, some of his humor is a bit derivative, and the pimp thing is about played out (I hope) but he's vastly funnier than D.L. Hughley. I have a feeling that over the next four years at least, all those Black comedy guys are going to see their visibility rise, some regretfully so.

It's a good DVD. He drops some good mental health knowledge in a subtle way. And he touches on Barack and Hillary, but not Palin, so it must have been done about a year ago.

I mean, after I see it tomorrow, I will think these things...
