A free Thermals download

I go out of my way to support black rocker chicks. You know that, right? So let me point you to a FREE MP3 from the Thermals, a Portland punk-pop band featuring Kathy Foster on bass.

To hear the band’s live version of “A Pillar of Salt,” click here. It was recorded a year ago in L.A.

Click the song title below to commence downloading.

To watch Kathy Foster rock out, with her cute self, check the music video for “A Pillar of Salt.” I like how she infuses her personal energy into the proceedings even though she’s not out front. (And that doggone bass is big as she is!)

“A Pillar of Salt” (live) (MP3)
Album available at iTunes Music Store
Album available at Amazon MP3

Completely and totally off topic UBM, but have you seen this?

What has really been going on with him lately?

I think that you might like the band The Now Time Delegation, something of an indie supergroup who released an album on In The Red Records back in 2001. Lo-fi garage soul-rock with Lisa Kekaula (singer for the Bellrays) belting out a mix of covers and originals.

You can check out some clips of their CD at:

IW: Oh wow... I had no idea. It's Martin Lawrence all over again.

blaark: Thanks for introducing me to that band! I'll highlight 'em tomorrow.

I love sharing the buried gems... You're on your own with Kekaula's Bellrays who sound a little too rehashed Detroit dude-rock for me but if you like The Now Time Delegation's music you can walk backwards to Tim Kerr's older band The Lord High Fixers.

^ Actually, I meant to say thanks for introducing me to the BellRays. I haven't even gotten to The Now Time Delegation yet.

But Lisa Kekaula was born to sing rock 'n' roll. Didn't take me long to figure that out.

Nice find! The sound in the video track is great, I'll have to do some more digging.

You can tell how out of the scene loop I am .... I live in Portland and hadn't even managed to hear of them yet.
