Oh shit...

Have the Republicans gotten inside Obama’s head? Keep your game together, brah! This ain’t the time for gaffes like this:

I saw that this morning and thought "uh oh"...... that will turn up in a Republican attack ad.

...and he introduced Biden as the President..shit happens, I think it's hilarious when a one word misstep is taken as the "truth".

Here we go again!

I think the poor man is tired! Eight hours of sleep and a good visit from Michelle might clear this all up.

To me, he always sounds very measured, like he's processing a lot of stuff in his head before be speaks. Not this time, though.

Oopsy!

The only people this will have any effect on are the racist morons who would never vote for Obama in the first place.
The rest of us appreciate Obama specifically because he talks to us like we're adults, and having him speak in soundbytes to prevent unscrupulous racist motherfuckers from taking quotes out of context like this would negate that major advantage.

I believe he was saying McCain has not accused him of being a Muslim.

The whole argument is stupid, as it's not against the law to be Muslim.

Yeah that!

UBM no harm! I agree with Lynn statement.

^ I hope y'all are right.

But the big thing is... Obama's gonna have to be almost perfect in order to win this thing. He can't afford to make mistakes that another candidate might be able to get away with.

I saw that, I thought he had out "my muslim faith" in quotes. It was sarcasm.

Tee hee. That was almost as good as saying he had been in 57 states

I took it like LennieG did..... That McCain hasn't brought up the "Hey, he's a Muslim" bit....

No worries....

But UBM, he HAS been almost perfect...yet Jholes all over this country still don't like him. Why? You know that answer.

I made phone calls for the campaign yesterday to another state, and when I introduced myself as a volunteer for Obama, one woman said "I'm voting for m...bl..cl..pr.......The Other One." I had to laugh.
Another lady, who said she was pretty much for Barack all along, is suddenly "interested" in Sarah Palin. I was speechless....All I could say was "uhhh.......".
Think back to Scooby Doo episodes....I think McCain could probably reach under his chin, rip off a rubber mask and reveal himself as the Devil and half this country would STILL prefer him over Obama.

Are you volunteering at all for him?
Ya wanna?

Yep, because he is rated as the most liberal senator in the senate.

That's interesting. People trained as lawyers usually are so careful about their choice of words. He must be extremely tired. Look for this clip on auto-repeat on every wing nut talk show and blog this week, ad infinitum. This'll be worse than all the places that have taken to referring to him as "B.O." (as in, having that less than fresh feeling).

Dick, you know it's more than that. Hillary's top strategist Mark Penn argued all along that the way to tear down Obama was to remind voters -- subtly but constantly -- that Obama is not "fundamentally American."

None of the negative GOP ads I've seen so far have focused on his liberalism (except for the line "He'll raise your taxes"). The negative ads are focused on the person.

Why? Because the strategists realize that, for a significant swath of the country, there's a resistance to Obama that has nothing to do with ideology... and everything to do with his essence as a human being.

Maybe Obama is too liberal to get elected. But I don't think we'll ever know, because the next two months will not be about attacking his policies but about painting him as someone who's "not one of us."

No, Mel. I give money, but I don't like talking on the phone.

It's so very important that politicians parse every single word they say so that it isn't taken out of context.

By the way, Sarah Palin said she's a dog with lipstick, I heard it myself.

David, I do not deny that there is a segment of the population that will not vote for Obama because of the color of his skin. However, there is an implication, and maybe I am being overly sensitive here, that has been made by more than one of the posters here that if you are white and do not vote for Obama then it must be racism. Sometimes it is about the issues.

I know there are still racial problems in this country, but we have come a long way since you and I were kids. I come from a long line of racists. As a small child, I remember seeing my grandfather arrested by PG's finest because he called the cops because two black men were talking to a white woman within view of his house. Now, interracial marriages are commonplace. My parents both plan to vote for Obama, after years of voting strictly Republican. Fortunately my siblings and their spouses will more than counter those votes.

I have several reasons not to vote for Obama, and skin color isn't even on the radar. In 2006 during the Maryland Senate race, I voted for Michael Steele (primarily because in his commercials he stated that he liked puppies, I mean, who doesn't like puppies) In no particular order:

1-Obama wants to raise taxes on businesses, but who does that really impact? I have been in business all my life, and I can tell you that any time a business has an increase in expenses, it is passed on to the consumer. It is the lower and middle class that ultimately pay the tax in higher prices. He wants to raise the ceiling on the income for social security taxes. Businesses match those social security taxes, so there will be a loss of jobs because small business can not afford to the additional taxes.

2-I like McCain's energy policy more than I do Obama's, and part of that is because of Sarah Palin.

3-I believe McCain will be stronger in foreign policy than Obama. With everything that is going on in the world today, that is important to me.

4-The fact that Obama was rated the most liberal senator in the senate and that he believes bigger government is the answer. If anything, the government is the problem.

Are you freakin' kidding me?! That is so cute!

I'm not saying there aren't reasons to vote against Obama. Heck, there are black conservative bloggers (like Cobb) who are strong for McCain.

I'm focusing on the campaign tactics, though. The GOP, since the days of Nixon, are famous for dirty tricks, "rat-fucking," wedge politics, knife-fighting, and generally doing whatever it takes to win.

That's what I'm keeping my eye on.

The Dems aren't any better, they just aren't as efficient.

I think Senator Obama's "my Muslim faith" comment is a non-issue. There are bigger fish to fry.
Someone remarked earlier that lawyers are trained to be more careful with their words. I wonder, and wouldn't be surprised, if lawyers are trained to 'walk in other's shoes'.
So maybe Senator Obama asked himself the question, 'If I were Muslim how would I defend this?'.
Either Senator Obama is capable of empathy or he is trying to figure out his own identity.
I don't know the answer to this. Time will tell.
