‘The Black List’ on HBO tomorrow night.

Just a reminder: Elvis Mitchell’s documentary “The Black List, Vol. 1” will premiere on HBO tomorrow night at 9.

Embedded below are a couple of hip-hop-related outtakes. Russell Simmons and record executive Steve Stoute didn’t make it into the final cut of “The Black List.”

I am so loving this! Everyone was wonderful, except Russell and Puffy both seemed nervous...

I must say I was pleasantly surprised. After the CNN mess I didn't hold out much hope for it. But all told it was well done.

I've had a soft spot for Colin Powell since seeing him speak at the opening of a Buffalo Soldiers monument in Kansas. There are a lot of things I disagree with him on, but I still view him as a bit of a tragic figure.

Seeing him tonight made me think about something I heard on a Richard Pryor album. Richard, apropos of nothing, said to the entire club, something like, "wouldn't it be crazy if we all just got naked and fucked. Wouldn't that freak everybody out?"

So I thought, what if Barack had reached across the aisle and chosen Colin Powell as his running mate? People wouldn't know what to do with themselves. I smile just thinking about the consternation and ringing of hands.
