Vernon Reid live on the Web... right now!

Vernon Reid and Masque just started their show at Brooklyn’s Zebulon Café Concert. If you wanna listen via streaming audio, do this:

Follow this link to the Zebulon website. Click “LISTEN” on the blue menu. Then click “LIVE” on the red menu. Then click the indicated symbol to launch the live audio stream.

UPDATE (07/02/08): Well, they finished a 90-minute set. The mix was harsh indeed, but I stuck with it... and was glad to have my first extended exposure to Vernon in Masque mode. Groovy!

One of the cuts they played early was “Mind of My Mind,” which Vernon said was dedicated to the late science-fiction writer Octavia Butler. To hear the 2006 studio version on my Vox blog, click here.

Just tuned in. Had to take the wife out to eat.

Having a REAL hard time with the mix. Trying to stabilize.

I give up and they just launched into my cut, too. Thanks for the tip anyway, brotha.

umm, I feel like a borderline loser, listening to other people enjoying a late night OUT while I am up listening IN at home!

^ At 3,000 miles away, that's as close as I can get to being Brooklyn-style boho-chic.

I couldn't wait. All hail the UBM on this. I saw the post earlier today and, forget web stream, Zebulon is on my bike ride home from the wednesday night bar quiz night I go to. And Zebulon never even has a cover (they literally passed a hat to give money to the band). I stopped by and was floored. Are You Experienced? Unreal. A few more songs, all killer, I was wondering if I could stay up. Then he busted out My Bloody Valentine followed by Radiohead Kid A cut, followed by a sick dub reggae tune. Let's just say I got a second wind and stayed til the end. Great set, much much thanks UBM for the tip.

The mix was way off, but no fault to VR and Masque. Yohimbe Bros played last year and I recorded the webcast fine! I tried recording this one but the input to webcast was too too much, muddled. But...it was good to hear it. You know V has some shows coming up in Newark, NJ (Yohimbe Bros), Long Island (Living Colour and Kings X - opening for Extreme) and Philadelphia (Yohimbe Brothers @ North Star Bar)...
