Opposition journalist Lee Shungu (Zimbabwe Gazette) has just posted a Web article about the state of affairs in Zimbabwe, where the government still hasn’t released results of the March 29 presidential election.
“Across the country, heavily armed policeman and soldiers still roam around the city streets, whilst baton wielding riot police officers ‘monitor’ the situation in residential areas,” according to Shungu.
He adds: “On national radio and TV, the country’s sole broadcaster, ZBC, is airing propaganda jingles and songs whilst war movies are also screened on TV.” (Presumably this means movies about Zimbabwe’s war for independence from white rule... the guerrilla war which President Robert Mugabe led.)
Here’s the complete article.
