Something ludicrous from Tiny Tim

I barely remember Tiny Tim in his glory days as a TV oddity. He was so uncool, he was actually hip. (I never quite understood that.)

In recent years I’ve discovered that Tiny Tim was, in fact, seriously knowledgeable about the history of American popular music.

But what I respect most is his absolute willingness to play the fool. Look at what he did to “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?”... all to entertain us. (Don’t miss the big finish.)

I still remember his marriage to Miss Vicki. What made you bring up this blast from the past?

Hey GenevaGirl. I do a lot of looking for music clips on YouTube... and I can't remember how I stumbled on this one. But Tiny Tim was ahead of his time, because this performance is made for viral video.

I cant believe I'm putting this on the internet, but Tiny Tim singing "Tiptoe Through The Tulips," runs through my head a little more often than is probably normal.

^ Thembi, there is only one cure for that...

Okay. That was like watching two weeks of American Idol rejects auditions condensed into three minutes.

Had to listen to the Meters song "Tippy Toes" a bunch of times before I realized that it was inspired by Tiny Tim's version of "Tiptoe Through the Tulips." The tip(toe?)-off is the guitar playing a bit of the TTTT melody in the bridge, but even the ukulele-like guitar chording that opens the song seems derived from Mr. Tim's recording. If I hadn't lived through the era of his greatest fame I wouldn't have believed it, but yeah, in 1968 even Ninth Ward funkmasters had heard Tiny Tim.
