‘The Wire’: a prequel

Surprise, y’all! At Amazon.com, you can watch three short original videos from the makers of HBO’s “The Wire.” These scenes are called “prequels.”

The best one – featuring the beloved characters McNulty and Bunk – you can find by following this link.

The other ones are here and here.

I remember someone asked Simon a longtime ago whether he ever thought about creating prequels for The Wire. I guess he did think about it, though at that time he said no he isn't interested.

This is awesome.

Me too, justjudith. I remember him in David Milch's newspaper show, "Capital News," about 17 years ago... back when Wendell was skinny!

The role I'd like to see him play next? Thelonious Monk.

It won't be long now, Thembi!

Wendell Pierce would be the definitive Monk!
I knew him back in New Orleans before he "turned pro" as an actor, and he's The Truth (as any fan of "The Wire" can attest.

I also share Monk's birth date, so I'm especially interested in seeing his story told well. Let's hope someone floats the idea past Wendell!

Goddamn, McNulty is such a pig! I usually spend a little more than 24 hours with someone before I fart openly in their space. But, I guess that's love for you.
