As the Penguin jazz guide puts it, the Eubanks family is Philadelphia’s answer to the Marsalises of New Orleans. Right down to the fact that guitarist Kevin Eubanks took over as leader of the “Tonight Show” band from Branford Marsalis.Kevin’s little brother, Duane, is a trumpet player.
And Kevin’s big brother, Robin Eubanks, is a trombonist who has served with Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers and the Dave Holland Big Band.
