A free Kofi Ayivor download

If you aren’t yet registered at Calabash Music – or maybe you are but you haven’t stopped by in a while (guilty) – you need to know: They are going nuts over there with the free MP3s!

Calabash is offering two FREE downloads per day, while maintaining an available roster of 10 at a time.

In other words, go there today and you’ll find free music by Mickey Hart’s Global Drum Project, Brazilian guitarist Juarez Moreira, the Cuban reggaeton group Eddy K, a Malagasy musician named Modeste, and much much more. (Well, six more.)

Is there room on your hard drive for some global groove music?

Yesterday, Calabash made available a track by Kofi Ayivor, a master drummer from Ghana. Ayivor was a member of the Afro-rock band Osibisa during the 1970s. He has recorded with Eddy Grant, Jimmy Cliff and Angelique Kidjo.

The free MP3 is “Adzagli (Jungle Funk),” a swinging late-’70s jam. Click here to stream it on my Vox blog.

Follow this link to Calabash Music to download it for your very own. But move with deliberate speed; it'll only be up for a few days.

The free downloads are out of control! And I'm lovin' it!

Issa Bagayogo's "Diamadon" was offered a couple weeks ago. I had previously purchased his "Timbuktu" CD so when I saw the freebie, I couldn't download it fast enough!

Calabash friggin' rocks!
