Compare and contrast

9 comments:

  1. The canned pseudo Carmina Burana voices are lame. Why does every trailer in film and television use that shit?

    And Combs is weak.

    But I'm biased.

I'm tight with one of the best actors in NYC. Does audio books. Almost won an Obie. Then Combs comes in with his name and lame "I'm Puffy, see me emote" schtick, and gets a part that real actors deserve.

But that's the business, I guess.

Oh, and UCB, chances are you know my friend.

He was on season four and five of the Wire.

    And he was great.

  3. Yeah, I tried to watch that lame ass "introduction" and then turned it off. What a douche.

  4. Sean Combs, P Diddy or whatever his name is today, is full of himself. That intro was all about him, him, him. It made me NOT want to see the film. What a shame that a real actor wasn't hired.

  5. He lost me at "It's important that you see this side of what I do."

No, it's NOT freaking important that I see what you do. I'LL decide what's important for me. That okay with you?!?!

He really didn't do a horrible job though. It's just the original can't really be touched. Like doing a remake of Psycho or something.

  6. um..one was the story of a family, the history of a people. the other was puffy pleasuring himself on stage.

  7. I agree with the comments lauding the original. Just watched it the other day. Tears at the corner of eyes that were embarrassing my 16-year old. But that was some brilliant writing by Lorraine and the cast was one of the best. Can't think of anyone who wasn't great in that. Classic line is when Lou Gossett calls Sidney "Prometheus." That was some great writing.

  8. Went all the way to NY to see the Diddy version on Broadway and got the understudy instead (who was brilliant). Audra MacDonald is the hotness, however, and it was worth it just for her.
