The so-called “birther” movement – an Obama Derangement Disorder in which people believe Barack Obama was born in Africa (not Hawaii) and therefore his presidency is illegitimate – has gone international.
It’s being pushed by a right-wing Israeli talk-show host via Internet radio. She is American-born Tamar Yonah.
Today, Yonah talked about the latest “birther” juju: a supposed copy of Obama’s Kenyan birth certificate. (Even Karl Rove thinks it’s fake.)

I have had some, um, "interesting" conversations with Israelis about Obama.
ReplyDeleteThis happened most recently at a party where everyone was Israeli but me and the woman who was asserting that not only was Obama not born here, but that he was also a Muslim who is in league with terrorists, went on and on about how the US is in so much trouble now that we don't have Bush.
There were other people who disagreed with her but she shouted everyone down in that inimitable Israeli sabra style which is simultaneously dismissive, arrogant and hysterical.
Then she packed up her husband's balls and headed to the buffet table.
I think it's been established that Orly Taitz is an Israeli immigrant, not Russian - which I find interesting that she lets folks claim that. Anyway, as a great way to cap the day, here she is having a meltdown on CNBC. I think the jig is up.

obama is american people just want something to boost ratings or discredit a president they don't support
ReplyDeletethis not only distracting from important issues but also complete BS
Best debunk of the fake birth certificate I have seen. Will they ever quit?

well he is smarter than most of us born in the united states... :)
ReplyDeletewould the passengers on this bandwagon support gov. schwarzenegger's desire to change the constitution so that he might one day become president? talk amongst yourselves...
@quirkychick, LOVE your use of "sabra." haven't heard that word in ages!!! as a black woman, once married to a jewish man, who had in-laws in both isreal and south africa, family vacations were an experience, and gave me a perspective on gender, class, race, and ethnicity that is priceless.
ahh... I think we'll soon see the actual midwife that delivered him on foxnews. I'm just waiting for these birthers to find some withness from Kenya to attest that he was born there. *sigh* do these birthers realize that they are just looking more and more stupid with each passing day?
ReplyDeleteThe whole thing is ridiculous on the face of it. Even if Obama had indeed been born outside the territory of the USA, say in the Congo, at that time the law provided that as long as his mother was a US citizen at the time and had resided for ten years in the US before his birth, he would be a "natural born citizen". Today the law is as follows:
ReplyDeleteSec. 301. [8 U.S.C. 1401] The following shall be nationals and citizens of the United States at birth:
(e) a person born in an outlying possession of the United States of parents one of whom is a citizen of the United States who has been physically present in the United States or one of its outlying possessions for a continuous period of one year at any time prior to the birth of such person;
That's the law. So if anything, they should ask for Obama's mother's birth certificate.
^ I wanna know what country Orly Taitz is a citizen of. Let's see her papers.
ReplyDeleteAnd if she ain't American... why doesn't she mind her own fucking business?
