Those were some nice selections, UBM! I especially liked Ian Brown's cover. I listened to it twice and went to Amazon.com to see if it was available. I'm buying it.
I've had the Thriller cd for ages but only a couple of days ago did I put it on my mp3 player. (I was influenced by a documentary I watched on Quincy Jones.)
Good call on SWV, mynameismyname. Love that song. :-)
The graphic you posted for Heath Brandon's song really caught my eye. "Stand clear of the closing doors" is something I hear whenever I'm on the subway. Then I looked closely at Brandon's guitar and noticed the NY skyline. Wonder if he rides the L train? :-)
We should compliment this post with a spinoff thread that highlights songs that SAMPLE tracks from "Thriller", they'd include:
ReplyDeleteKanye West & T-Pain's "Good Life" (PYT)
Rihanna's "Don't Stop The Music" (Wanna Be Startin' Somethin')
Nas' "It Ain't Hard To Tell" (Human Nature)
SWV's "Right Here/Human Nature Remix" (Human Nature)
....name anymore?

Guess what, y'all? I got an email yesterday from Heath Brandon himself, saying that he was already an "avid reader" of this blog!
ReplyDeleteFor that, I'm gonna stream one of his originals. Click here for "One of Those Nights."
^Hey! How cool is that!?
