Something surprising and ironic has happened as this presidential race hit the homestretch: Foreign media provided two big embarrassments for the Obama and McCain campaigns.
First, a British newspaper – the Times – revealed that Barack Obama’s aunt from Kenya, Zeituni Onyango, is living in a Boston housing project. According to the Associated Press, she is an illegal immigrant.
Then came news yesterday that Sarah Palin has been pranked by a couple of radio tricksters in Montreal. Audio of a ridiculous phone conversation between Palin and a guy she presumed to be the president of France is now all over the Internet.
If you haven’t heard it yet, it is embedded below.
Time for this chaotic campaign to end already.
look at the nasty spin on this. since when is obama a millionaire?

foreign media had also found george.
the nasty stuff going around today is unreal. unreal! one can only hope and pray it's desperation tactics and doesn't work. mccain campaign manager questing whether obama is even a citizen. you have to see huffpo today.
then look at drudge.
Obama's coming to Cleveland this evening with Bruce Springsteen. Jay Z last week, Bruce today. Obama is one bad mother shut-yr-mouth.
ReplyDeleteCross your fingers there is no drama between drunken Browns fans and Obama supporters.
I was a bit hesitant about listening to that prank call. (I get easily embarrassed for others.) But, dang! Like one of the commentors at MSNBCs website said: Can anyone imagine Palin answering the red phone???????
ReplyDeleteWord.
^ My first thought was: "There but for the grace of God goes Joe Biden."
ReplyDeleteAnybody can get pranked. But this one has the effect of reinforcing the perception of Gov. Palin as a lightweight.
oh, yeah, because all football fans are white racist mccain supporters. ??!!
ReplyDelete^
ReplyDeleteno, but close. all football fans are obnoxious and brainless..
I'm like BKLYN6, I don't like to hear other people embarrass themselves and didn't want to listen, but my husband insisted on hearing it. If Palin couldn't figure out that she was being pranked she's a bigger idiot than I thought. I'm not even sure that Sarko has a command of English.
ReplyDeleteThe way that Palin spoke to him was an embarrassment, e.g., talking about his beautiful wife, etc. This isn't a call from the PTA president in the next town over. I can't wait to we ship her out of the lower 48.
This isn't a call from the PTA president in the next town over.
ReplyDeleteHee-hee...
Actually, on the story about Obama's aunt, there's reason to think that it was not research by foreign reporters at work. Apparently more than once in the past, Republican operatives have given info they wanted to enter the US media mainstream to someone from the Times of London, in order to make it less obvious that they were behind it. And remember that the Times is now the property of Rupert Murdoch, owner of Fox News Channel.
ReplyDeleteobama live on cnn...after the boss. just got off some funny comments about cheney's endorsement of mccain now in cleveland. hope huffpo or someone grabbed them.
ReplyDeletethen it started raining, too, and he ad libbed a bit about look what happens you talk about cheney.
^ I loved the rain line!
ReplyDeleteAnd his follow-up ad lib... "Sunshine is coming. In two days, we'll get rid of these clouds," or something like that.
