One more day!

A young buddy of mine named Hamani got up early on Saturday to vote. I didn’t even know California had early voting. In L.A. County, there’s only one place you can do it: Norwalk.

I don’t even know where Norwalk is.

Anyway, Hamani said it was like a concert out there Saturday morning. “I’ve never seen so many black people up at the crack of dawn in my life,” he joked.

Guess who he ran into, also waiting to vote? Filmmaker Charles Stone III. They chatted, and Stone posed for the picture above. Very cool.

Charles Stone, as you probably know, resurrected his famous “Whassup?” advertising campaign for a pro-Obama viral video. And viral it is, with 3.8 million YouTube views in 10 days.

If you haven’t seen it yet, here it goes:

  1. I thought that guy looked familiar. I knew Charles Stone as Chucky when we were kids. I was friends with one of his sisters in day camp and then again later in college. He was always the little brother in my mind. Glad to see him doing so well.

So were you able to vote early?

  2. I vote in the Bay Area and there has been early voting in the Superior Courthouse in Oakland for sometime. I believe there is a spot in San Francisco too.

Thanks for posting that video of Amp; I wasn't aware of it. Think I'll post it on my blog too :-)

  3. Chuck did his damn thing; good for him...and us.

Whew that Amp track is banging? Where is it from?

Really, Sly Stone's RIOT GOING ON has inspired so many neo-soul artists, it needs its own musical catagory.

  4. ^ that dude: The track is called "Black House (Paint the White House Black," and it's on Amp's new album with Sly & Robbie.

IW: It looks good on your blog. :^)

  5. So were you able to vote early?

    No, GG. I'm not pressed.

Indeed, I'm still studying the sample ballot. This is California, and we always have a lot of complicated propositions... the big one this time being Prop 8, to constitutionally outlaw gay marriage.

  6. @ Invisible Woman

SF allows early voting at City Hall, although at this point that only makes sense if you happen to work close by...
