That’s what Sarah Palin says in a video recorded last year by “Charlie Rose” and uploaded to the Web this weekend.
(It really might happen, you know. This person could be President of the United States in the near future.)

Now we know why McCain is keeping her sequestered in Alaska for intensive media training. Lots of words, didn't say much.

STOP SAYING THIS!!!!! there is NO reason this has to happen. if you support obama, just stop. (please)
she sounds like marge in fargo, like an idiot. oh yay, ya know...(puke).
"this campaign is about a composite view of what people take away from these candidates - their values, character, opinions, and principles"
Rick Davis
This was the money shot quote I was struggling to remember yesterday. Davis just now had to defend this chindribble to Pat Buchanan on Morning Joe ~ two minutes ago.
David, I'm going to go against the grain here, because I honestly don't see anything wrong in what she said. That doesn't mean I think she's qualified to be Vice President, and it doesn't mean that I'm going to vote for McCain/Palin. But like what I would guess are many others, I credit the first two jobs I had - flipping burgers at McDonalds and yes, being a waiter - with teaching me a lot about what it has taken to succeed in life and in business (and I like to think that I have). And yeah, I mention that a lot to younger people who come to work for me. So I don't see her doing anything more than that in the first section of that clip, in a light-hearted fashion.
I'm all for getting her out there to see what she's got in tank - it may be nothing; I suspect it is. But I don't see something like this as the "smoking gun."
^ Who said it was a smoking gun?

HUH? we don't need to learn anything more about this woman. what color bike she rode, whether she was a girl scout...we shouldn't be digging and digging.
the fact that she is so unqualified is already known. her selection makes a mockery of women politicians, especially hillary.
i want to see some republican women rise up and become PUMAs...and vote with the dems.
I'm putting this lyer on pause because I think she's getting everyone off focus and off message. Bloggers are just making her more and more viral and the Republican strategists are eating yours and my reactions up with glee. Meanwhile the wheels are in motion to steal the election right from under our noses (see Huffington Post regarding message going out to college students re voter registration, residency, and state loans. Ohio drama is happening too with mail in votes - someone contact their OH representative NOW). The democracy busters are out there.
Focus people! Focus! She is the VP candidate and the first big decision McCain/McDaddy has made in his campaign. Know what you're FOR, not just what you're against. This is the 2nd woman McDaddy/McCain has pimped for political gain. Cindy put up the cash; Sarah put up the smokescreen. Of course it takes a ho to be pimped. I had to go there :) I'm out.

So how is she unqualified but Barack Obama is qualified? She at least has governed. It is one thing not to like her policies, but that does not make one unqualified.
Okay Pairacans has governed. Governed a state full of lower 48 rejects, fishing guides and Native Americans. Her greatest decision being the one she made to fire her Public Safety Commissioner for not giving her bro in law the shaft. She might as well have been mayor of Fresno. McCain and Obama have played the game at a pretty high level in the Senate. Obama wrote laws in Illinois and the Senate. He has sponsored many more. He knows how to deal and govern. He has a law degree. Pairacans is a failed news reader. In Congress Pairacans would have been nothing more than a chattering psycho GOoPer back bencher. But we will never know since she has a better chance at being Preznit first should she and McCain win and he suddendly sneezes hard and then dies of an aneurysm.
Okay. I went out last night, got some food, had a few laughs and recovered from my mini melt down (LOL).
WHY! is there not outrage on the media about the crazy stuff this woman says! I Saw her on a church pulpit saying that the Minister is the reason she was the governor. OMG.
I really don't think the "Goldwatering" of Palin will have the desired effect-- i.e. create so much fear that people will be afraid to elect her.
Patrick J. Buchanan captures the essence of the culture wars Palin ignited last week in Minny:
"She is one of us — and he is one of them."
We know who HE is.
Obama needs cadre's of people with the spirit of Viola Gregg Liuzzo who will fight white nationalists on their turf. For some reason I don't think his wine and cheese crowd is down with that.

Yes, She is a Conservative Republican like Buchanan (hence one of us), and He is the Most Liberal Democrat.

A rather elitist statement

You really need to find a more balanced source of news. Check here: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/05/palin.trooper/
As far as her brother in law, the family was pushing for investigations in his actions before she became governor. He had threatened to kill her father. He tasered his stepson. State investigators found that he "had a pattern of poor judgement" including drinking beer in his police cruiser. He was suspended for 10 days.
He is the Most Liberal Democrat.
Another Republican talking point heard from.

Not Republican, that came from the National Journal which is non-partisan and also ranks the most conservative senators
Hey dick, keep the GOoper spin alive. You're doing a heckuva job.
Doesn't matter where it came from; it's become a Republican talking point.
dickster,
nominating Palin for VP is like nominating Maxine Waters for VP. Even the most die hard black Democrats aren't crazy enough to do that.
Stop trying to justify the choice. It's as bad as the more thoughtful conservative pundits say it is.
It's a naked appeal to identity politics. Lower class whites will vote for Palin just like blacks voted for Marion Barry in DC, Coleman Young in Detroit, and Sharpe James in Newark.

Could work. And if it does work, we will have to live with the fact that Obama made his move eight years too soon. He needed a few million more white kids raised on hip-hop to hit voting age... and a few million more elderly working-class whites who grew up in Jim Crow America to croak.
I won't shed no tears.
But I'm not convinced this Palin pick will work. Not until Team McCain stops treating her like a hothouse flower and lets Palin campaign without a chaperone. Not until she "meets the press." Not until Alaska yields up its skeletons.

Not trying to justify the choice. I had seen her a couple times prior to her selection and I liked her (not talking about her looks, David). She might not have been my first choice, that would have probably been Romney or Jindal, but she was in my top 4 or 5.
Yes, there are whites that will vote for McCain/Palin because they can't see themselves voting for a black man, and I would say it probably would not be limited to lower class whites. At the same time, there are blacks that will be voting for Obama solely because he is black. Neither is acceptable. Racism exists across class and race.
