Andy Bey is a jazz singer of the old school. With a voice like butter, he’s an esteemed interpreter of standards.
I have seen him perform live, and I recommend that anybody take advantage of a chance to do so.
I’m streaming Andy Bey’s rendition of “It Ain’t Necessarily So” on my Vox blog. Click here to hear it.
This was recorded live at Birdland in 1997, but was released only last year – on the CD “Ain’t Necessarily So.” (Downloadable at eMusic and iTunes.)

UBM! I love Andy Bey. He's great live. I cannot believe he doesn't get the pub that, say, Diana Krall gets -- he's ten times the singer IMHO.
ReplyDeleteHis singing is really nuanced, a shout out to the past and yet very fresh.
^ Thanks for that, S.O.L. Glad you've seen him.
