This will be my last item on “racial masking” (unless and until some Tracey Ullman blackface clips appear on YouTube). The performer here is Vaginal Davis. Be warned: He’s got a dirty mouth.
Hey UBM, this string of American Tradition posts arrives serendipitously times with a conversation from yesterday... At a middle-class white BBQ the new Stuff White People Like blog came up (and I do own a Mac) which segued into This American Life... Tho I haven't seen it I guess there was an episode about a Chicago hot dog stand where the staff, as part of the schtick, act rudely towards customers and the customers respond in kind... Late nights I guess the situation turns a little racial and buried sentiments dribble out and suddenly the BB Gun fight gets ugly... Sounds a lot like getting a cheesesteak late on a Saturday night in South Philadelphia to me but was wondering if you had seen this episode or if you had any feelings about it... Not just the hot dog stand, mind you, but the way This American Life goes about covering the story...
I went to the link you gave and...holy crap, has it really been that long since Club Sucker ended?! I feel so old. And now I want a lollipop.
ReplyDeleteThe voice was the funniest part about this. Oh, and the thing about the balls. :-D
Black man as white woman, high pitched white girly voice...
ReplyDeleteNow where have I seen this before...?
^ Eddie Murphy's pool party??
