Her name is Lunga... short for Nokulunga Buthelezi. She’s from South Africa. Lunga is a contortionist. The best I’ve ever seen. (And I’ve been to a few Cirque du Soleil shows.)I present for your inspection two vidclips. The first is from Dutch TV. Lunga performs her routine from the European theatrical extravaganza “Afrika! Afrika!”
The second clip finds Lunga in the U.S.A., back when she was with the all-black UniverSoul Circus (which I’d never heard of before).

ReplyDeleteRicky used to promote the Fresh Fest concert tours in the early '80s, got tired of runnin' after all these Hip Hop artists, and came up with the Circus. Shyt is fun, In fact, I'm going this evening.
IW and Fisher: What can I tell you? I stopped reading Jet magazine in high school, and I quit listening to black radio in the mid-'80s. How else is a mug supposed to find out about the all-black circus??
