Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuit

Hillary Clinton shook up her political team today, replacing campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle with Maggie Williams.

Ms. Williams and Ms. Solis Doyle are both longtime members of Hillary’s tight circle of female advisors... a group that calls itself “Hillaryland” (as the Washington Post first reported). I call it the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuit.

Maggie Williams was Clinton’s chief of staff during her first term as First Lady. That gig was no day at the beach. Hillary put the blame on Maggie when Chinese businessman Johnny Chung made a $50,000 donation to the Democratic Party... at the White House.

Ms. Williams also broke down in tears while testifying before Congress during the 1995 Whitewater scandal. (And got stuck with $140,000 in legal bills.)

But Maggie Williams has remained loyal to Hillary Clinton. Let’s see if it does either of them any good.

Meanwhile, here’s the rest of the Sisterhood:

  1. UBM: Sorry, very off topic--who is that in the Laugh Factory picture?

  2. LOL. A real "friend" won't put the blame on you and leave you with thousands of dollars in bills.

    Some friend....

  3. UBM again I don't trust Ms. Clinton. If she threw her under the bus one time who's saying she won't do it again. Maybe Hillary want her to say she is the one that gave her campaign those millions.

  4. Well, me thinks that given Donna Brazil's public misgivings about the going ons of Clinton & Clinton booting out the white girl in favor of the black one may be a bit of window-dressing. Black curtains anyone?

  5. ^ Actually, Michael, I think Patti Solis Doyle identifies as "Latina." Hillary Clinton's crew is quite diverse, I'll give her that... a couple of other sisters in there, a South Asian, plus the enchantingly exotic Huma Abedin.

But, like JJ said, Maggie better not get too close to any busses.

New Black Woman: I think the way the Clintons roll, they hook you up with a nice job through their connections if you suffer in silence on their behalf.

  6. Yeah, true. I forgot she is Mexican. Still though.

  7. I don't think it's window dressing. They've been talking about Maggie Williams coming back since New Hampshire.

Williams probably won't be out front doing a lot of media.

She's there to set the discipline, crack the heads, and get them to the convention.

  8. Of course the Clintons' crew is diverse - they're equal-opportunity users!

Billary like to show off their dark-complected friends to let everyone know that they're "down" with "the 'hood," then they can be tossed overboard when convenient.

It's like the plot of one of your Hollywood movies, UBM, with Lani Guinier & Jocelyn Elders in the role of "Sacrificial Negro."

  9. Hi UBM,

I wonder how Ms Williams and the other Black women on Billary's team justify to themselves being on a team that has used race baiting as a campaign strategy.
