Mitt Romney, Republican candidate for president, is so comfortable around black folks... it’s just amazing to watch. He decided to hang around some black folks yesterday in Florida... you know, because it was Martin Luther King Day.
Look at how down and with it and funky-fresh he is with the young’uns. Like when he says, “Who let the dogs out? Hoo, hoo!”
Watch out, Barack. Somebody else wants to be America’s Second Black President!
At one point, Romney is pressing the flesh while a marching band in the background plays “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing.” I wish someone would’ve asked him, “Yo, Mitt... can you name that tune?”
I couldn't find it on YouTube, but I remember seeing a clip on the old "Not Necessarily the News" show of Ron and Nancy Reagan at an African American church.
ReplyDeleteNancy was clapping along in time to the music, but the Gipper was completely lost, and kept having to look at her hands to try and sync up....good stuff.
seriously, why did he even mention who let the dogs out? maybe i missed it but it seemed to come out of nowhere. could it be the only "black" song he knows. lol. ok, when around black people i'll sing who let the dogs out or getting jiggy with it.
ReplyDelete^ Let's be grateful, justjudith. Mitt could've come out with, "I like big butts and I cannot lie..."
ReplyDeleteToo funny!
ReplyDeleteBoth the clip and UBM's alternate version.
I had a good giggle with the vision of him doing,"I'm Rick James Bitch!".
Every time I see this cat I think "Does he have his magic undies on today?"
ReplyDeleteI'm sick of all of them.
Hmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteWhite man has no rhythm, news at 11.
Seriously. This is news to you guys?
:)
Hmmmm.
ReplyDelete"^ Let's be grateful, justjudith. Mitt could've come out with, "I like big butts and I cannot lie...""
Ok that's just wrong.
Now not only can I not get that song out of my head, I've got images of Mitt doing that dance along with it.
I think vodka is the only cure for this.
aw come on! Give Mitt a break. I thought he was being pretty sweet and relaxed. He a corny/not hip guy and he knows it, so he played it up a bit. As far as I've seen, he's the only Republican candidate to even go a black anything.
ReplyDelete^ Wait a minute... you think Mr. Romney was poking fun at himself? You're a nice person, Wanda. You see the good side of people.
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched this video. I just know it'll make me cringe.
ReplyDeleteWell, Bklyn6... you only need to watch the first 18 seconds. A good cringe can do us all good every now and then.
ReplyDeletewhat can i say david, im a optimist at heart. :)
ReplyDelete^wanda, really? i mean, i am sure you're good-hearted, as am i -- but he was uncomfortable and he blurted out something silly. let me ask you this -- would he have been there if he wasn't running for president?
