One of the lesser-known “Young Lions” of jazz is 40-year-old Marcus Printup. The Georgia-born trumpeter has done most of his recording for European labels such as SteepleChase.
I am brand new to Mr. Printup. But so far I’m enjoying his traditionalist approach to the horn.
For the 2007 CD “Jazz at Prague Castle,” Printup performed with veteran Czech pianist Emil Viklický and his trio.
A tune off that disc – Viklický’s “Mystery of Man Blues” – is available as a FREE MP3 for those registered at AllAboutJazz.com. Follow this link if interested.
