It'll make you wonder if the guy was a little bit nuts.

At the same time, I take Cleaver at his word that the Panthers used to ambush police, shoot first, then lie about it.

I think those who romanticize the Panthers as just these righteous brothers and sisters have to deal with this information. Seems to me this was a group that attracted people with a propensity for violence.

As for the password thing, yeah, I have to keep a list of passwords... especially since I've started blogging and commenting on other blogs... WordPress, TypeKey, etc., etc. No way I'd ever remember without a list.

Feel free to speak up in defense of the Panthers. But I'd like to know what you think of Cleaver's revelations.Undercover Black Manhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08704721024820668555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4486244714643027014.post-71212242052815672442007-03-01T10:37:00.000-08:002007-03-01T10:37:00.000-08:00UBM, I really want to comment because this topic i...UBM, I really want to comment because this topic involves one that I have had a deep interest in for years — the Panthers. [Never knew you had sat down an interviewed Cleaver!] But I'll reserve my thoughts until I've read the entire interview. I will say, based on what I know to date from my studies, I am not a Cleaver fan.

And, fyi, I've been trying to comment on a few of your other posts for days, but I can't for the life of me remember the password I created to publish my comments so until I do I guess Anonymous will do.

—UBMFAN1Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4486244714643027014.post-36515577738965350252007-02-28T12:53:00.000-08:002007-02-28T12:53:00.000-08:00Thanks, Doug. What I mostly remember was Cleaver describing how as a boy he answered a priest's question by comparing the Trinity to three-in-one motor oil; and his description of a fellow inmate at San Quentin who could fellate himself. I guess at 20 or so, that's what you remember.

Also interesting, Cleaver is buried in Alta Dena of all places. In the same cemetery where George "Superman" Reeves is interred.

Great interview by the way...Dougfphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09368194989548066847noreply@blogger.com
