Its absloutly beyond me how this group never got the proper respect they strongly deserve.
They were the equivalent of Prince in terms of fusing many different musical styles and making them sound pretty accessible. And like Prince, their fusion attempts weren't forced or sounded dated.
I wish I could blame it on the "wrong place, wrong time" factor but I know its not the case,,,,,maybe they were TOO HIP for people to catch up, I guess.

Blonde caucasian = coconut?
On a related note, just the other day I was poking around youtube for Cory Daye videos. :-)
Anyway, I enjoyed the interview. Thanks for posting.

Wild part is... the Brits always dug him. Tunes like "Stool Pigeon" and "Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy" were big hit singles in the U.K.
They got a lot of air-play on KROQ,
back in the day.
Edicot was 'aight - Stool Pigeon was better.
wow
i was all over kid creole. he was my back-up if things didn't work out with el debarge.
Oh hell yeah,,,,Europe has always been ahead of everybody when it comes to their taste.
They celebrated Josephine Baker, Miles Davis, Dizzy & Bird long before it became fashionable.
EVEN Billie Holiday was introduced to the British market(through their press) before the US,,,which is a trip & a 1/2 to me.
Americans 'deems' anything different,,,,instead of embracing it, sadly.
