A tip of my hat to blogger Harry Allen for shining a light on Shemekia Copeland, a funky Chicago blues singer.
Her new CD, “Never Going Back,” drops in two weeks.
Till then, I can point you to a FREE MP3 from Ms. Copeland’s 2006 album, “The Soul Truth.” (It was produced by legendary Stax guitarist Steve Cropper.)

She's amazing live. I saw her when she was opening for her dad, Johnny Copeland, I think she was about 17 or so.
^ Oh cool, quirkychick. I had never heard of her. (Or her father, actually.)
Love her! She can blow. She was in Scorce's "Lightning In A Bottle" and blew the roof off the sucka with Robert Cray singing "Pity The Fool."
I meant Martin Scorcese.
