Barack Obama’s grandmother, Madelyn Lee Payne Dunham, has died in Hawaii. The Obama campaign announced it a half-hour ago.
How sad that it had to happen now... before Mrs. Dunham could know the result of tomorrow’s election.
My thoughts are with Sen. Obama, his sister Maya Soetoro-Ng, and their family.

i just saw this and had the same thought!
maybe she knew...she knew he had already won so much already, that it was OK for her to go.
i am so sad for him!
^ Yep. And he's still gotta get out there and make a couple more speeches...
So sad...but she will be looking down on him.
On the cynical side, this in the news cycle right before the election is a good thing...gotta affect the female base.
I bet she was very proud of him.
R.I.P. Mrs. Dunham.
I literally prayed that she would make it to Wednesday. She could see him win and then drift happily away. At least she died proud. I hope that the press allows the family a quiet funeral later this week.
they said she voted early and it counted... so I saw it as a sign that she knew what was to become of it and one more hurdle Obama had to leap over winning the race
