There isn’t much funny in Will Ferrell’s new basketball movie. It’s just a loosely connected series of weakly inspired ideas.
Andrew Daly is amusing as a happy-go-lucky sports announcer. But Will Arnett is, as always, unpleasant. And fairly talented folk such as Andy Richter, Kristen Wiig, Tim Meadows and Rob Corddry are put to waste.
I do like Will Ferrell’s faux-funky ’70s song “Love Me Sexy.” Click here to hear that on my Vox audio stash, and save your $8.50.

Not funny?
What a surprise! (insert sarcasm here).
Is there a such thing as a funny Will Ferrell movie? Not in my book, and I loved him on SNL.
^ I must say, IW, that "Anchorman" made me laugh out loud. The race-car movie had a few chuckles in it.
Otherwise... yeah... not hittin'.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll wait til the hustleman gets it.
^ Hee-hee...
Ferrell's schtick is getting old, but I can't say I blame the guy for repeating himself. Since hitting it big, he's tried to branch out three times (Stranger Than Fiction, Winter Passing, Melinda & Melinda), all pretty good movies, yet they all bombed miserably.
^ Winter Passing??
I don't know why, but men seem to love Will Ferrell movies waaay more than women (an observation after discussing his movies with many folks).
Go figure.
Ever since I started seeing commercials for this it's been obvious to me that a straight adaptation of Terry Pluto's "Loose Balls" would be about 4 times funnier.
