Wow, lots to look forward to at the flicks.
“Honeydripper,” the new John Sayles film, opens in New York and Los Angeles on December 28th, and in a few more big cities in mid-January. It is due to open nationwide in February.
“Honeydripper” stars Danny Glover, Charles S. Dutton, Lisa Gay Hamilton, blues musician Keb’ Mo’, and other familiar faces.
I respect Sayles’s work. But based on this trailer... I don’t know. Seems like there’ve been a whooole lotta “juke-joint” movies made. “Idlewild,” “Lackawanna Blues,” “Ruby’s Bucket of Blood”...
Oh well. We shall see.

Out of all the juke joint films, Lackawanna Blues was the best followed by Ruby's Bucket of Blood.
Idlewild was visually beautiful and that's about it. I want to support black film, but sometimes the selection ain't the best.
^ Hey Danielle. Yeah, I'm with you... it's a selection thing. Doesn't Hollywood think black folks gather someplace besides church, the barbershop/beauty shop, and 1930s back-woods juke joints?
I'll got see this one 'cause John Sayles name is attached. He always gets a pass from me for his fine work on "Brother From Another Planet." Remember that one? TIGHT!
